IRS Agents Join Backdating Taskforce

Law360, New York (September 8, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- As the stock options backdating scandal continues to widen, an increasing number of regulators have jumped into the fray. The Internal Revenue Service has become the latest agency to get involved, joining a backdating taskforce formed by Northern California U.S. Attorney Kevin Ryan.

The taskforce, which already includes members of the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, is charged with looking into claims made by companies and individuals that executives improperly changed the grant dates of their stock options.
