Korean Shipper To Pay $2M For Oil Dump

Law360, New York (April 27, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A South Korean cargo company has agreed pay a $2 million fine after crew on one of its cargo ships allegedly dumped 10 barrels of oil straight into the ocean and then lied to U.S. investigators.

Seoul-based STX Pan Ocean Co. Ltd. pled guilty and agreed to pay the maximum fines allowed to settle four felony charges relating to an illegal dumping off the 24,000 ton cargo ship M/V Ocean Jade, the U.S. Department of Justice announced Friday.
