Carbon Emissions Probe Of E.ON To Be Dropped

Law360, New York (April 27, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Germany's cartel office will reportedly soon drop a probe of E.ON AG into allegations that the energy company abused a European Union emissions trading system by selling its carbon dioxide emissions certificates at a profit, despite receiving them for free.

Bernhard Heitzer, president of the Bundeskartellamt, told reporters at a cartel conference in Hamburg that the investigation would end within a few weeks with no consequences for E.ON, Dow Jones reported Monday.
