Transsexual Ex-Colonel Wins Relief In Bias Suit V. LOC

Law360, New York (April 30, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A former U.S. Army colonel who changed his sex to female has been awarded $491,000 after prevailing in an August 2008 bench trial on claims against the Library of Congress of unlawful hiring discrimination in violation of the Civil Rights Act.

Judge James Robertson ruled on the award in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia on Tuesday, seven months after his finding that the plaintiff was a victim of discrimination by the federal government.
