Katz Files $50M Breach Of Contract Against Heller

Law360, New York (May 1, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Former Heller Ehrman LLP client Ronald A. Katz Technology Licensing LP has filed a $50 million claim against the bankrupt firm, alleging that by shutting down, Heller breached an agreement to represent Katz in numerous patent suits.

The company filed its claim on April 24 in Heller's bankruptcy proceeding in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of California. The claim is for “an amount estimated to exceed $50 million” to cover the cost of hiring other firms to litigate the cases to conclusion....
