Deals Rumor Mill: Boeing, Siemens Healthineers, Nippon Life

By Benjamin Horney (January 2, 2018, 5:08 PM EST) -- The Boeing Co. and Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer SA are in discussions concerning potential joint ventures and other business agreements, according to a Tuesday report from Reuters. The report said Boeing is looking to focus on complementing its aircraft portfolio, expanding its sales platforms, and developing new products. Reports late last month said Boeing was interested in taking over Embraer, which is valued at around $3.7 billion. Tuesday's report said the companies are considering joint ventures and other arrangements in part to ease the concerns of regulators. It also, however, cautioned that a joint venture may not be an "effective way to combine engineering resources, explore new business opportunities and satisfy Boeing's interest in Embraer's portfolio of regional passenger jets, defense programs and business aircraft."...
