Law360, New York (August 04, 2009, 8:49 PM ET) -- The lawyer defending Robert Allen Stanford against criminal charges on Tuesday saw his bid to withdraw from representing the accused fraudster held up until new counsel for Stanford, which court papers indicate will be Patton Boggs LLP, files a substitution motion.
Judge David Hittner of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas signed an order holding Dick DeGuerin’s motion to withdraw as Stanford’s attorney in abeyance until new counsel files a unconditional motion for substitution.
