Jefferies Fund Manager Charged With Insider Trading

Law360, New York (November 06, 2009, 5:24 PM ET) -- Former Jefferies Paragon Fund portfolio manager Joseph Contorinis is facing conspiracy and securities fraud charges stemming from $7 million in profits he allegedly made for the hedge fund by trading on insider information about the 2006 sale of supermarket chain Albertson’s Corp.

The U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York announced Friday that a grand jury had returned a 10-count indictment against Contorinis, 45, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
