Italy Extends Intesa Antitrust Probe Into February

Law360, New York (January 08, 2010, 12:08 PM ET) -- Italy's competition regulator has granted a second extension in an investigation into whether Italian bank Intesa Sanpaolo SpA failed to comply with antitrust procedures on shareholder pacts related to the merger that created the bank.

The new deadline for the Autorita Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato's probe is now Feb. 22, according to authority spokeswoman Emanuela Goggiamani. The change was announced Thursday.

In August, the agency granted a three-month extension to the investigation, to Jan. 14.
