Law360, New York (January 22, 2010, 1:02 PM ET) -- A federal bankruptcy judge has allowed the trustee in charge of liquidating Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC to hire Canadian law firm Kugler Kandestin LLP to go after Madoff assets in Canada.
Judge Burton R. Lifland of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York on Wednesday granted a motion by the trustee, Baker & Hostetler LLP partner Irving H. Picard, to retain Montreal-based Kugler as special counsel, nunc pro tunc, as of Sept. 1.
