CME Venture To Buy 90% Of Dow Jones Indexes

Law360, New York (February 11, 2010, 1:45 PM ET) -- Futures and options exchange CME Group Inc. and Dow Jones & Co. have said they are launching a new joint venture that will give CME a 90 percent stake in Dow Jones' financial indexes.

The new global financial index services business will control about 130,000 index properties, including the venerable Dow Jones Industrial Average, CME said in a statement Wednesday.

Dow Jones, owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp., will hold the remaining 10 percent and will contribute its Dow Jones Indexes, valued at about $675 million,...
