Law360, New York (April 07, 2010, 6:37 PM ET) -- U.S. Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner has urged European finance ministers to rework a plan to impose new rules on hedge funds and private equity funds, saying the proposal in its current form would effectively discriminate against U.S. funds and fund managers.
The proposals being considered by the European Union would deny foreign funds the opportunity to access European customers, Geithner said in an April 5 letter sent to finance ministers in Britain, France, Germany and Spain.
