Judge Allows Attack Claims Against Bank

Law360, New York (January 30, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- A federal judge ruled Monday that survivors and their families can pursue claims against Arab Bank alleging that it promotes suicide attacks and other murderous acts in Israel by funneling money to the families of bombers.

The bank tried to dismiss the suits, saying the court didn’t have jurisdiction and that the plaintiffs—mostly Israeli citizens, but also people from Afghanistan, Australia, Canada, Iran, South Africa and other countries—failed to state a claim.
