Law360, New York (July 25, 2011, 9:19 PM ET) -- Massachusetts' attorney general said Monday that Mortgage Electronic Registration Systems Inc., an industry-created company that acts as a mortgagee for lenders, is under investigation in connection with unlawful foreclosures.
Attorney General Martha Coakley says in a letter that her office will send civil investigative demands to local registers of deeds to gather information on probes into the misconduct of creditors who rely on MERS.
