Law360, New York (December 12, 2011, 11:16 PM ET) -- A Texas federal judge earlier this month dismissed most claims brought against Heartland Payment Systems Inc. by various financial institutions in multidistrict litigation stemming from a 2008 data security breach.
In a Dec. 1 order, U.S. District Judge Lee H. Rosenthal dismissed claims brought under New Jersey, New York, Washington, California, Colorado, Illinois and Texas consumer protection laws, but denied Heartland's motion to dismiss a claim brought under the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act.
