Market Rumors: Carige, Carrefour, Romania

By Chelsea Naso (December 18, 2014, 7:03 PM EST) -- Italy's Banca Carige is said to be planning to raise the size of an anticipated €500 million capital increase to €700 million ($863 million) to help fill in a shortfall uncovered by a Europe-wide health check of lenders, a decision made after talks with the European Central Bank, Reuters reported Thursday, citing people close to the situation. The initial capital raise was announced shortly after tests unveiled that Carige had a shortfall of about €810 million. The bank also recently announced the sale of its insurance units and is looking to unload its private bank and consumer credit unit....
