Bankruptcy Judge Rejects Bid To Move NHL's Coyotes

Law360, New York (October 01, 2009, 2:39 PM ET) -- The bankruptcy judge overseeing the Phoenix Coyotes' Chapter 11 case has rejected an offer made by the former CEO of BlackBerry maker Research In Motion Ltd. that would have seen the hockey team move to Ontario.

On Wednesday U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Redfield T. Baum turned down both ex-CEO Richard Balsillie's offer and one by the NHL to take over the debtor's estates, though he affirmed the league's right to decide who should own their teams and where they are located.
