Judge Nixes $1.9B In Sprint Claims In DBSD Ch. 11

Law360, New York (October 01, 2009, 4:18 PM ET) -- A federal judge has shot down Sprint Nextel Corp.'s bid to hold the debtors in the DBSD North America Inc. bankruptcy jointly liable for $1.9 billion to cover reimbursements for clearing spectrum band.

Judge Robert E. Gerber of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York ruled Wednesday that Sprint can file claims against only one debtor entity: DBSD Satellite Services GP, the mobile satellite service operator that entered into the spectrum band for which Sprint is seeking reimbursements.
