White House Rebuffs House Panel's Solyndra Subpoena

Law360, New York (November 04, 2011, 9:04 PM ET) -- The White House on Friday strongly criticized a subpoena issued by a U.S. House of Representatives panel for documents related to the U.S. Department of Energy's $535 million loan guarantee to now-bankrupt solar panel manufacturer Solyndra LLC.

White House Counsel Kathryn H. Ruemmler called the subpoena, issued Thursday, overbroad, unprecedented and unnecessary in a letter addressed to House Energy and Commerce Committee chairman Fred Upton, R-Mich., and Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations chairman Cliff Stearns, R-Fla.
