Law360, New York (September 08, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- Following a hearing that included more than seven days of testimony, a California judge ruled on Friday that the city of Vallejo, Calif., is eligible to file for Chapter 9 bankruptcy, despite union protests.
U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Michael McManus rejected objections filed by several major labor unions, including the International Association of Firefighters, Vallejo Police Officers' Association and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, which claimed that the Northern California city could have used other funds to prevent bankruptcy and hadn’t acted in good faith....
