Law360, New York (November 21, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- A putative class of retail workers has sued the bankrupt owners of retailer Steve & Barry's, claiming the companies failed to meet pay and benefits obligations required by the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act in connection with a Nov. 17 mass layoff.
The suit, filed Thursday in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York, claims that more than 100 workers were terminated without cause and seeks first priority administrative expense status in the newly filed bankruptcy case.
