Delta Seeks To Dump Pilots' Pension Plan

Law360, New York (September 01, 2006, 12:00 AM ET) -- Bankrupt Delta Air Lines has asked a bankruptcy judge to let it terminate its underfunded pension plan for pilots to enable the carrier to exit from Chapter 11 by next year, but some pilots groups intend to rally in opposition to the move.

In the first day of hearings, Judge Adlai Hardin heard Delta’s motion Friday to slash its pension plan covering about 13,000 pilots, retirees and survivors in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.
