US Moves To Block Broadcom Execs' Subpoenas

Law360, New York (July 08, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- The U.S. government has accused Broadcom Corp.'s beleaguered executives Henry Nicholas and William Ruehle of issuing subpoenas in shareholder derivative litigation in a cynical ploy to advance their defense of charges in a parallel criminal case.

Intervening in the civil action that centers on allegations of a massive stock options backdating scheme at Broadcom, the government called on the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California on Tuesday to issue a protective order to block the "improper third-party document discovery" by Nicholas and Ruehle....
