Law360, New York (September 25, 2009, 3:22 PM ET) -- A San Francisco jury has awarded $2.3 million to the family of a U.S. Navy civilian marine machinist who developed mesothelioma after being exposed to asbestos while working aboard various naval vessels.
A jury in the Superior Court of California, County of San Francisco, on Tuesday found John Crane Inc. partially liable for defective product design and failure-to-warn, handing the family of now-deceased Peter Galassi an award of $2 million for noneconomic damages and more than $325,000 for economic damages and lost household services.
