States Seek To Defend Calif.'s Motor Vehicle Waiver

Law360, New York (October 09, 2009, 5:03 PM ET) -- An 18-state coalition has moved to intervene in a lawsuit and defend the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's decision to let California set its own limits on greenhouse gas emissions from motor vehicles.

In a motion filed Thursday with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, the states said they had all promulgated, or were thinking about promulgating, new motor vehicle greenhouse gas regulations with standards identical to California’s, and that they therefore had a direct interest in the outcome of the case....
