Microsoft Fights Insurance Ruling Over $1.4M Judgment

Law360, New York (December 11, 2009, 2:31 PM ET) -- Microsoft Corp. has appealed a decision letting Hartford Casualty Insurance Co. off the hook for a $1.4 million judgment against a software importer the technology giant successfully sued for copyright infringement.

In a notice of appeal filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, Microsoft said it would ask the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit to weigh in on a summary judgment ruling handed down in favor of Hartford.
