Law360, New York (March 25, 2010, 11:47 AM ET) -- A U.S. House of Representatives subcommittee has approved legislation that would direct federal regulators to tighten up safety standards for U.S. electricity grids, noting that increasing amounts of information flowing over new “smart grids” makes them potential targets for terrorist and cyber attacks.
The House Energy and Commerce subcommittee on energy and environment voted unanimously on Wednesday to advance the Grid Reliability and Infrastructure Defense Act, a bipartisan bill co-authored by subcommittee chairman Edward Markey, D-Mass.
