Calif. Hospital Settles Medicare Fraud Suit For $2M

Law360, New York (September 20, 2010, 5:52 PM ET) -- A Southern California medical center has agreed to pay $2.2 million to settle a False Claims Act qui tam case accusing the hospital of committing Medicare fraud.

El Centro Regional Medical Center will pay the United States $2.2 million plus interest to settle allegations that it overcharged Medicare patients in order to obtain a larger reimbursement from the government, the U.S. Department of Justice said Monday.
