Senate Dems Propose Tougher Pipeline Safety Rules

Law360, New York (February 04, 2011, 4:16 PM ET) -- Sens. Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J., and Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., have introduced legislation to strengthen pipeline safety oversight by the federal government and arm regulators with the authority to seek increased civil penalties for companies falling afoul of the rules.

S. 275, the Pipeline Transportation Safety Improvement Act of 2011, was introduced in the Senate Thursday. It is co-sponsored by Sens. Mark Begich, D-Alaska, and Robert Menendez, D-N.J.
