Law360, New York (May 24, 2011, 12:24 PM ET) -- Nestle SA said Tuesday that it had struck a deal to buy Prometheus Laboratories Inc., a San Diego-based company specializing in gastrointestinal and cancer diagnostics, for an undisclosed sum, strengthening the Swiss food giant’s new health care business.
Prometheus, which focuses on ailments like ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, will boost Nestle's newly minted research program established through the Nestle Institute of Health Sciences. It will develop nutrition strategies for the management and prevention of chronic health conditions.
