Judge Won't Make EA Produce NFL Memo In Antitrust Suit

Law360, New York (December 02, 2011, 8:18 PM ET) -- A California federal judge refused Thursday to force Electronic Arts Inc. to produce a key document in a suit brought by a class of video game purchasers claiming EA stifles competition by maintaining exclusive licensing deals with the National Football League and other football organizations.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Bernard Zimmerman denied the gamers’ motion to compel EA to produce an email sent by EA’s attorney to the NFL’s outside counsel, saying the communication is protected by the work product doctrine.
