Law360, New York (December 13, 2011, 7:51 PM ET) -- The U.S. Food & Drug Administration has put eight California medical centers and a marketing firm on notice for failing to properly warn clients about the risks of Lap-Band, an FDA-approved weight loss device, the agency said Monday.
In its warning letters, the FDA says the medical centers and the marketing firm 1-800-Get-Thin are violating the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act by misbranding the gastric banding system in billboards and advertising inserts as an easy weight loss tool, rather than a serious surgical treatment....
