Iovate To Pay $1.5M To Settle False Health Claims Suit

Law360, New York (January 06, 2012, 9:50 PM ET) -- Iovate Health Sciences Inc. has agreed to pay $1.5 million to settle claims by 10 California district attorneys that it falsely advertised its dietary supplements, in the second-largest deal of its kind in the state's history, prosecutors said Wednesday.

The California prosecutors claimed Iovate's marketing of its supplement Cold MD violated California's Proposition 65 because it contained much more than 0.5 micrograms of lead in a single dose but carried no warning label.
