Law360, New York (January 06, 2012, 6:29 PM ET) -- A California federal judge on Friday tossed a putative class action against Redbox Automated Retail LLC, finding that state legislation forbidding the collection of customers' ZIP codes didn't apply to the company's video rental kiosks.
U.S. District Judge Jacqueline H. Nguyen ruled that California's Song-Beverly Credit Card Act applied only to brick-and-mortar retailers, not online merchants or the automated rental kiosks operated by Redbox.
