Law360, New York (July 19, 2012, 4:07 PM ET) -- Pearson PLC, one of the world's biggest publishing companies, has scooped up leading self-publisher Author Solutions Inc. from private equity firm Betram Capital Management LLC for $116 million, giving itself a leg up in the booming self-publishing market, Pearson said Thursday.
The all-cash deal brings ASI into Pearson's fold, where it will be partnered with another subsidiary, the popular publisher Penguin Group USA. Together, the companies will flesh out ASI's success in online marketing and consumer analytics with Penguin's editorial and sales expertise and international reach....
