Law360, New York (August 07, 2012, 1:40 PM ET) -- The California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) has released proposed regulations that require all companies who sell “consumer products” in California to seek alternative, safer ingredients where their products contain certain “chemicals of concern.”
The regulations, which are entitled the “Safer Consumer Products Regulations,” would establish a process for manufacturers to determine whether safer alternative ingredients are available. The regulations specify that they apply to “all consumer products placed into the stream of commerce in California” with certain specified exceptions.
