Calif. DAs Sue Walgreen For $60M Over Toxic Waste Disposal

Law360, New York (August 07, 2012, 3:53 PM ET) -- Three dozen district attorneys in California said Monday they’re suing Walgreen Co. for at least $60 million over allegations the pharmacy giant illegally dumped toxic waste and customers’ medical records into garbage cans at hundreds of locations.

According to a complaint filed in June and later amended, retail staffers across the Golden State flouted hazardous materials regulations by throwing latex paint, batteries, electronic devices, aerosol products, mercury-containing light bulbs, prescription drugs and bleach into standard trash receptacles.
