Calif. AG Asks 9th Circ. To Revive Energy Antitrust Suit

Law360, New York (August 17, 2012, 4:25 PM ET) -- The California attorney general asked the Ninth Circuit on Thursday to review the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s dismissal of a suit claiming several utilities and other energy sellers abused their market power during the state's 2001 energy crisis, allegedly costing ratepayers nearly $2 billion.

Attorney General Kamala Harris filed the petition after the regulator's Aug. 7 rejection of the state’s second motion to rehear the case. FERC had originally dismissed Harris' complaint in May 2011 and denied her first motion for a rehearing in June....
