Chevron Loses Bid To Sanction Nigerian Riot Plaintiff

Law360, New York (February 27, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- A federal judge on Tuesday rejected Chevron Corp.'s motion for sanctions against a plaintiff in a suit alleging that the company conspired with the Nigerian military to gun down demonstrators protesting its presence in Nigeria.

Judge Susan Illston of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California denied Chevron’s bid for sanctions against Bassey Jeje, one of the plaintiffs named in the original complaint.
