Payless Settles K-Swiss Trademark Suit For $30M

Law360, New York (June 27, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- Collective Brands Inc., owner of retailer Payless ShoeSource Inc., has agreed to pay $30 million in compensatory damages to athletic footwear designer K-Swiss Inc. to resolve trademark infringement allegations.

The terms of the settlement in the lawsuit brought by K-Swiss in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California were filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday.

Topeka, Kan.-based Collective Brands also has agreed to stop making, advertising or selling footwear that is “confusingly similar” to that sold by Westlake Village,...
