Abbott Settles HIV Antitrust Suit With Indirect Buyers

Law360, New York (July 31, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- Abbott Laboratories has reached a proposed settlement with a class of indirect purchasers of HIV medication Norvir that alleged that Abbott unfairly hiked the drug's price after competitors started threatening Abbott's market dominance.

The plaintiffs and Abbott filed a joint motion Wednesday for interlocutory appeal and adjournment of their upcoming trial in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.

They agreed to ask the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit to rule on several contentious issues that arose during the litigation....
