Caltech Sues Camera Giants Over Imaging Patents

Law360, New York (October 16, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- The California Institute of Technology has accused six companies including Panasonic Corp., Sony Electronics Inc. and Canon Inc. of selling cameras and camcorders that infringe several Caltech patents relating to imaging technology.

In a complaint filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, the Pasadena, Cal.-based private university said the companies' infringement on the six patents has been knowing and willful and entitles the university to treble damages.
