WL Gore Loses Bid To Invalidate Medtronic Patents

Law360, New York (December 10, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- A federal judge has shot down W.L. Gore & Associates Inc.'s attempt to invalidate patents asserted by Medtronic Inc. in a lawsuit over intravascular stents, tiny tubes used to prop open arteries.

Judge Jeffrey S. Whyte of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California ruled Tuesday that W.L. Gore had not shown that any of the five patents in the suit were invalid due to lack of enablement, obviousness or indefiniteness, as it had claimed.
