A Massachusetts federal judge Thursday affirmed a jury verdict that found medical device maker Hologic Inc. had infringed two surgical patents held by rival Smith & Nephew Inc., but ordered new proceedings on damages after calling the jury's suggestion "hopelessly ambiguous."
