The manager of hedge fund Pershing Square Capital Management LP on Monday urged General Growth Properties Inc. to enter into acquisition talks with Simon Property Group Inc., reiterating his belief that the company was susceptible to an unfavorable takeover by Brookfield Asset Management Inc.

General Growth Properties Inc. vowed Tuesday to fight a New York bankruptcy judge's decision to award a lender $11.7 million in default interest in a dispute over changes in the shopping mall owner's debt obligations once it filed for bankruptcy.
