A Minnesota federal judge on Tuesday dismissed a suit by a proposed class of retired National Football League players claiming the players' union sold them out in last year's collective bargaining agreement negotiations, finding the union owed no duty to the retirees.

Retired football players launched a putative class action Tuesday against the National Football League Players Association and New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, claiming the union had no authority to negotiate retiree benefits during a recent labor dispute with the NFL.
