Estee Lauder Inc. and Mary Kay Inc. said Monday that plaintiffs in California have relied too heavily on the claims of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals in filing a putative class action, wrongly taking the group at its word when it said the cosmetic giants were testing their products on animals.
