A Michigan federal judge on Monday denied a bid from Weight Watchers to drop a U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission suit accusing the company of discriminating against a pregnant job applicant, expressing doubts about the application of the company's goal weight policy to the woman.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on Tuesday sued the company behind Weight Watchers in Michigan federal court, claiming the company refused to hire a woman as a group leader because she was pregnant when she applied for the job.
