New York Southern
Racketeer/Corrupt Organization
Class Action
J. Paul Oetken
Pfizer Inc. told a New York federal judge Tuesday that health care benefit funds bringing a putative class action over its allegedly illegal copayment subsidies for prescription drugs have failed to properly allege that the copay coupon program hurt their business, and that their antitrust and racketeering claims must be axed.
The Judicial Panel for Multidistrict Litigation on Thursday declined to centralize in Illinois seven class actions accusing GlaxoSmithKline LLC, Pfizer Inc. and seven other major drugmakers of racketeering and antitrust violations for allegedly subsidizing illegal co-payments for brand-name prescription drugs.
