Covidien Dodges Surgical Stapling Class Claims For Now
A federal judge on Thursday tossed a proposed class action against Covidien Inc. over injuries allegedly suffered from the company's surgical stapling devices used in gastric bypass surgery, although he left a window open for the plaintiffs to keep the case going.

A gastric bypass patient and her husband sought class certification in Louisiana federal court on Tuesday, claiming they have enough putative class members who have been unreasonably injured by Covidien Inc. surgical stapling devices to justify the move.
